    The Academic Scholarship is for first-year students with a high school GPA of 3.0-3.24, calculated through the Junior Year.  Qualified candidates will have an ACT Composite Score of 23-25 or a SAT Combined Critical Reading + Math of 1100-1180. 

    This scholarship is renewable up to four academic years.  Renewal requirements are: maintain a 3.25 JSU GPA and earn 30 hours at JSU in the previous academic year.


    Academic - High School GPA 3.25 - 3.49

    The Academic Scholarship is for first-year students with a high school GPA of 3.25-3.49, calculated through the Junior Year.  Qualified candidates will have an ACT Composite Score of 23-25 or a SAT Combined Critical Reading + Math of 1100-1180. 

    This scholarship is renewable up to four academic years.  Renewal requirements are: maintain a 3.25 JSU GPA and earn 30 hours at JSU in the previous academic year.


    Academic - High School GPA 3.50 - 3.74

    The Academic Scholarship is for first-year students with a high school GPA of 3.50-3.74, calculated through the Junior Year.  Qualified candidates will have an ACT Composite Score of 23-25 or a SAT Combined Critical Reading + Math of 1100-1180. 

    This scholarship is renewable up to four academic years.  Renewal requirements are: maintain a 3.25 JSU GPA and earn 30 hours at JSU in the previous academic year.


    Academic - High School GPA 3.75 +

    The Academic Scholarship is for first-year students with a high school GPA of 3.75+, calculated through the Junior Year.  Qualified candidates will have an ACT Composite Score of 23-25 or a SAT Combined Critical Reading + Math of 1100-1180.

    Academic Prestige Housing

    The Academic Prestige is for first-year students with a high school GPA of 3.0+, calculated through the Junior Year.  Qualified candidates will have an ACT Composite Score of 31+ or a SAT Combined Critical Reading + Math of 1350+. 

    This scholarship is renewable up to four academic years.  Renewal requirements are: maintain a 3.25 JSU GPA and earn 30 hours at JSU in the previous academic year.


    ACE Scholarship

    Type: All Students

    Value: 6 In-State Classroom Hours per semester

    Major: Any

    A full-time undergraduate student who is committed to one year of service in the Department of Academic Enhancement & Tutoring Services.

    FAFSA on file is required.

    250 word essay stating need for scholarship and academic goals in the comment section of the on line application.

    Only students who demonstrate academic aptitude shall be eligible for this award.

    Established for the benefit of a full-time undergraduate or graduate student who is visually impaired, legally blind, or completely blind. If a candidate with visual impairment is not eligible, any student with a learning challenge or physical disability can be considered.     An essay should be include in the additional information section of this application describing how the scholarship will help you meet your educational goals.   The essay must be typed and be no more than 300 words in length.   Please be specific about hardships or other situations that make your successful completion of the nursing program more difficult for you.

    Students must meet all of the following criteria: be a United States citizen, national, or alien admitted as a refugee at the time of application. Must be full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in the Criminal Justice Department at JSU. GPA requirements: a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 based on a 4.0 scale and/or a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale of their major studies.

    For transfer students only: Eligibility based on same criteria and determined by their transcripts from previous institution or higher education which MUST have already been submitted to JSU and entered into the system prior to applying for the scholarship.

    The Jacksonville State University Band offers scholarships (by audition) to students interested in marching and concert band.  Scholarships are awarded to deserving students who demonstrate a high level of musicianship and playing ability on their respective instruments as well as the needs of the band program.  These scholarships are available to any music and non-music majors.

    This award shall be a one-time award for outstanding achievement in Chemistry at Jacksonville State University. For a student’s application to be considered, the student should:

    • Be a full-time student and chemistry major at Jacksonville state University

    • Possess an overall GPA of 3.0, with a 3.5 in Chemistry

    • Have achieved Junior or Senior status by the deadline

    • Have not received this award in a previous year

      In addition to academic success, the student’s service to the Chemistry program at JSU and to the community will be considered. These accomplishments may include: performing directed research; presenting research at local, regional, and national meetings; giving presentations for local high-school student groups; and attending preview day to interface with potential chemistry majors.

    Choral

    The Jacksonville State University Choral ensembles offers scholarships (by audition) to any student regardless of their major.  Scholarships are awarded to deserving students who demonstrate a high level of musicianship  Students should prepare one vocal selection as outlined on the music department website, and be prepared to sightread a short selection.

    Jazz

    The Jazz Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate an aptitude and desire to participate in the Jazz Studies Program. Students receiving a Jazz Scholarship are required to participate in JSU Jazz Ensembles and JSU Jazz Combos as needed.
     
    Students should be prepared to play a jazz standard,  a transcription, or a selection from your high school jazz band ensemble. We will provide a sight-reading piece. Improvisation is optional but highly encouraged.  The auditioning student should plan on joining  JSU Jazz Ensemble I during rehearsal, from 3-4pm, on Friday Feb 2 or Friday Feb 9.

    The JSU Honors scholarship is for students with an ACT Composite of 30 or above; or a SAT Critical Reading + Math of 1340 or above.  Qualified candidates will have a High School GPA of 3.75 (GPA will be calculated by JSU) or greater.

    The JSU Honors Scholarship is competitive based on several factors including a resume and interviews. Only 8 JSU Honors Scholarships will be awarded. The JSU Honors Scholarship is subject to renewal criteria each academic year. Student must maintain a JSU GPA of 3.25 or higher. Students must also complete service hours per semester required by the Honors Board.


    JSU ROTC Gamecock Battalion

    JSU VEX Robotic Scholarship

    Type: Entering First Time Freshman (In-State)

    Value: 12 in-state tuition hours per semester

    Major: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)

    The VEX Robotics scholarship (ACT 24 - 25; or SAT 1110 -1180); renewable one year, up to 48 hours.

    Incoming freshmen planning to pursue a STEM related degree with at minimum ACT composite score of 24 (SAT 1110) that has documented, active participation with VEX robotics in high school and a minimum 2.75 high school GPA. The scholarship will provide 12 semester hours tuition during the fall and spring semester and is renewable provided the student completes a minimum of 12 semester hours per year while maintaining a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

    This scholarship can not be combined with any JSU Merit Scholarship.

    Students are consider in-state if they meet the following criteria: Alabama resident or a resident of one of the following Georgia counties: Bartow, Carroll, Chattooga, Coweta, Douglas, Floyd, Haralson, Heard, Paulding, Polk (Documentation may be required), 2016 Alabama high school graduate or 2016 Georgia high school graduate from one of the previously listed counties, entering freshman, unconditionally accepted and U.S. citizen.     Originally established by Tom Gilbreath, ROTC '67, on behalf of the ROTC Class of 1967, in memory of their classmate, Jerry Savage, ROTC '67, who died while on active military duty. The scholarship has been continued by Jerry's brother LTC (Ret.) Johnny Savage, ROTC '73.     Recipient will be selected on the basis of maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the criminal justice corrections concentration, evidence of good character, eligibility and emotional stability for a career in custodial corrections, and a 350 word essay submitted by the student.


    A 350 double spaced word essay describing your qualifications, motivations and career goals must be submitted. The essay should include the name of the scholarship, your full name, email address, postal address, JSU Student ID number, the total number of semester hours completed and GPA along with the total number of CJ semester hours completed and GPA.     The Veteran Annual Scholarship is intended to help alleviate financial concerns of qualifying student veterans in order to help them maintain focus on their academic pursuits and ultamately finish their degree program at JSU.
